Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

 WHERE IS THE COURT LOCATED?

The Poulsbo Municipal Court is located in the City/County Building in beautiful downtown Poulsbo. Our street address is 19050 Jensen Way.

 HOW DO I GET THERE?

From Highway 3, take the Highway 305 exit. At the second traffic light, take a right turn onto Bond Road. At the next traffic light, take a left turn onto Lindvig road which soon after turns into Front Street. On your right, you will notice that the street follows the water line providing a scenic view. This street will bring you to a rather different looking, uneven 4-Way stop. At the stop sign, turn right onto Jensen Way. Soon after on your left, you will see the County/City Building. It is a blue/gray building that displays a sign reading "Poulsbo City Hall" and has a beautiful fountain out front.

WHERE DO I PARK MY CAR?

The street in front of the City/County Building is restricted to one (1) hour parking. There is an ally between our building the building to the north. Turning onto the ally will bring you behind our building which is where the King Olaf Public Parking Area is. This is a free parking area that is open to the public 24 hours per day, 7 days per week.

WHAT SHOULD I WEAR AND HOW SHOULD I ACT IN COURT?

Suitable attire is required. Shoes and shirts are necessary. Halter tops, tank tops, and shorts are not permitted. Hats are to be removed upon entering the courtroom. No smoking, food or drink will be allowed. Children may be present in the courtroom, but if they disturb the proceedings you may be requested to remove them. The court does not provide child care. Upon your arrival, check in with the Court Services Officer outside of the courtroom. You may have a seat in the courtroom until the session convenes. You do not need to check in with the Clerk unless your name is NOT on the calendar. When your case is called, please come forward and have a seat at the defense table until you are otherwise instructed by the Judge.

DO I NEED TO CONTACT THE COURT IF MY ADDRESS CHANGES?

As long as you have an active case with the court, you are required to notify us of ANY change of mailing address.

WILL YOU HELP ME WITH MY DISTRICT COURT CASE?

The Poulsbo Municipal Court handles cases that were cited within the city limits of Poulsbo. The Kitsap County District Court handles cases that were cited in the county's jurisdiction. Both courts hold offices in the County/City Building, however they function separately. Cases are not transferred between the two courts and one is not allowed to accept court payments for the other. If you need assistance with a Kitsap County District Court case, please contact one of their staff members at (360) 337-7109. For your convenience, this is a county wide, toll free telephone number.
