Basketball Basics: Training sessions for boys and girls
Saturdays, Oct-Dec and March thru June: Boys and Girls, 3-8th grades
Basketball Basics is nine years old and running strong. Our coaches continue this high-energy training for kids in all aspects of basketball. The kids have the advantage of a supportive and disciplined approach to roundball. The kids like to call it basketball practice, but its focus is on the fundamentals that usually don’t find much time in team practices. Some offensive and defensive teamwork is taught. Cooperation and good sportsmanship are emphasized throughout. Each session culminates with half-court and/or full-court games. This is a good supplement to County Girls, Peewees and junior high school basketball. No Basics on Thanksgiving weekend. Poulsbo Jr. High.
Fall Sessions: Saturdays, Oct – mid- Dec
Spring session: Saturdays, end of March-early June
Drop in fee - $8, or you can pay a course fee for either session of $59

Girl and boy program specifics are listed below. Early registration deadline is Saturday, Thanksgiving weekend.

Summer Recreation Basketball Program
Basketball: last week of June thru mid-August; 3rd grade through 8th grade boys and girls.
With the huge interest in basketball our community shares, Poulsbo Parks and Recreation would like to offer a summer league aimed at getting you on the courts. Our summer program will be different than our winter, with games being the focal point and gym times for practice on a signup basis. The league would be aimed at getting the kids playing, not necessarily having a regimented training schedule. Summer vacations and activities make a standard practice schedule difficult to stick to. What I’m planning is open gyms for a variety of schools, taking signups for teams for time slots at those open gyms on a weekly basis. Poulsbo P&R would open and close the gyms, all you have to do is show and play/practice.
Games would be Monday through Thursday, with game start times on the hour, starting at 5:30. Open gym days would be Tuesday through Thursday. We would have an 8 game season with the season running June 24 to Aug 14. Games will start the week of July 7.
Cost will be $69 per player.
Practices can start Tuesday, June 24, 5pm
Purple and Gold jerseys available for $22 each
