WHERE CAN I GET FINGERPRINTED?
The Poulsbo Police Department takes fingerprints for Firearms Dealer License, Adoption, Schools, Banks, Insurance, Bonds and Pre-Employment. If your request for fingerprinting is for Immigration and Naturalization, please contact that agency for a list of approved fingerprinting service providers. Those services are provided at federal agencies in Seattle.
The cost for fingerprinting is $5.00 per fingerprint card. You must provide your own fingerprint card(s). Fingerprinting is done at 367 NE Hostmark St from 9 AM-12 PM and 2-4 PM, weekdays.
WHERE CAN I GET A COPY OF A POULSBO POLICE REPORT?
The Poulsbo Police Department provides copies of police reports and traffic accident reports for incidents that occurred within the City of Poulsbo and that the Department has investigated.
Copies of traffic reports are provided if your name appears on the report (witness, victim, or owner); or upon verification that you are the registered legal owner of the vehicle or vehicles involved. The cost for a copy of the State Accident Report is $5.00.
Copies of incident reports are considered for release upon completion of the public disclosure request forms. This includes witnesses, victims or suspects. A response to the public disclosure request for information will be provided within five (5) business days. The appropriate Revised Code of Washington (RCW) section will be cited if requests are denied.
Approved Photo Identification and a payment of applicable fees must be presented in person upon the release of the report. The cost for a copy of a report is $5.00 for the first page and .25 for each page after.
Washington State Law and Poulsbo Police Department Policy regulate who may receive copies of police reports. In some instances your copy may be edited to withhold certain information pending disposition of the case, or for other reasons as allowed.
I HAVE PROPERTY THAT IS BEING HELD BY THE POLICE DEPARTMENT. HOW CAN I GET IT BACK?
The Poulsbo Police Department may hold property for several reasons:
- Evidence in a criminal case
- Safekeeping purposes
- Found property
Regardless of the reason it is held, property will be released only to the legal owner and by appointment only. If property is being held as evidence in a criminal case and is legally returnable, written approval from the Prosecuting Attorney must be received by our office before we can release the property back to its owner.
To make an appointment to pick up property or evidence, call the Poulsbo Police Department at (360) 779-3113 (8-4:30 PM) and ask to speak to the Property/Evidence Custodian.
WHERE CAN I GET A BACKGROUND CHECK DONE?
The Poulsbo Police Department can prepare a background check "clearance letter" for you if you are currently a resident of Poulsbo living within the city limits and if you have never been arrested by the Poulsbo Police Department. The fee for this letter is $15.00 per name plus $5.00 for notarization. You may make a request at the Poulsbo Police Department, 367 NE Hostmark St., Monday through Friday between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m.

Criminal convictions are public record and a record of that information (or lack of convictions) is available from the Washington State Patrol Records Section. You may access this via their website: http://www.wsp.wa.gov
WHAT ARE THE RESTRICTIONS FOR CHILD CAR SEATS?
As of July 2, 2002:
The law sets new requirements for children under the age of 16 to be restrained in a vehicle:
Children one year of age or younger, or weighing 20 pounds or less, must be in a rear-facing infant seat.
Children age 1-4 years, or who weigh 20-40 pounds will need to be in a forward-facing child safety seat.
Children age 4-6 years, or who weigh 40-60 pounds are required to be in a booster seat.
Children older than six are required to wear a seatbelt.
A recent study by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration found that 71 percent of deaths and 66 percent of injuries in car accidents could be eliminated if every child under the age of 15 used an appropriate restraint system.
WHAT IF I FEEL I WAS ISSUED A TICKET IN ERROR?
If you believe you were issued a parking or traffic citation in error, you may request a hearing before the Poulsbo Municipal Court Judge. It is at this hearing that you will be able to explain why you feel the ticket was issued incorrectly. You may reach the Poulsbo Municipal Court at 360-779-9846.
