Parks & Recreation > Sports Programs and Leagues
League Basketball is complete for this school year! We had a very successful program for the 2022/23 school year and I expect more and better opportunities for the future. For the 2023/24 school year, we expect to run Fall and Spring Basketball programs as we did this season. These two leagues are entirely weekday oriented programs, no weekend commitments. There are boys and girls divisions, 3/4th grade, 5/6th grade, and 7/8th grade. Practices are normally twice a week, with games also scheduled weekday evenings (normally Monday thru Thursday.) Games are scheduled in NK, SK and CK area gyms. Fall BB will start signups in August; Spring BB will start signups in February.
Winter season brings two leagues; a Middle School Girls Prep league, for 6th thru 8th grade girls, practices weekdays, games on Sundays, no games over Christmas break. This is a concentrated league to get the girls ready for tryouts and school ball. Teams are normally scheduled double headers and there are bye Sundays if needed. This league has playoffs and is complete prior to any NKSD middle school basketball games.
Our premier league, our Winter Recreation Basketball League, will start taking signups in October with teams forming Nov thru Dec. Practices are twice a week, with games on Saturdays. Practices can start as early as the first week of Dec. No practices over Christmas break. Games will normally start the second Saturday of Jan. There are divisions for both boys and girls, starting from 1st grade through 8th grade. Emphasis is learning and enjoying the game!
Enjoy the summer, and I hope to see you all on the courts again next season!!
